Social Scientist & Economist; He has been a member of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd West Bengal Finance Commission and is considered as one of the authorities on the structure and functioning of Panchayati Raj Institutions and Municipal governance.
Arup Das (Secretary)
Development Professional; He has been involved in the developmental sector for over two decades. He was the Divisional Chief (Child Health) in Child In Need Institute (CINI) and was in-charge of Murshidabad district from 1999-2003. He has also provided consultancy on issues pertaining to children’s and women’s health to UNICEF and Lutheran World Service etc. He is in-charge of all the field operations of Marfat.
Ashis Biswas (Joint Secretary)
A seasoned development practitioner. Working with leading NGOs for nearly three decades, he has held positions of responsibility like Executive Assistant to the Director, CINI; Director, Rural Development Consortium (RDC); State Director, CARE – India (Bihar/Jharkhand); Director, Tagore Society for Rural Development (TSRD), and CEO of YUVA, Mumbai. He is currently working as a consultant with several NGOs in eastern India.
Meghendra Banerjee (Treasurer)
Practitioner of sustainable development action in the Asia and Pacific Region and India, in public health, nutrition, child rights and social protection systems. He has over two decades of experience of working with various national and international agencies like UNDP, WHO, Commonwealth Secretariat and CINI as a mentor, researcher, programme and M&E specialist and a knowledge management specialist. He is currently on management and advisory board of few civil society organizations, and the Proprietor of a management consulting firm for development sector interventions called Beyond Blue.
Monish K. Das
Filmmaker & Communication Consultant; An alumnus of Film & Television Institute of India(FTII), Pune he has received training on Social Communication from Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Rome, Italy. He has made audio-visuals for ITC Ltd, SAIL and Tata Steel etc. He has also provided consultancy on social communication to organisations such as UNICEF, CINI, Care (India) and the Department of Education, Govt. of West Bengal. Communications, human resource development, data management and overall planning of Marfat’s activities are his major responsibilities.
Gender Activist & Economist; She provides inputs and monitors gender and educational components of the programmes. She also provides critical inputs regarding the vision and mission of the organisation. She is also a consultant to UNIFEM.
